The return working back to Paddington ran non-stop from Plymouth to London, breaking the record for the fastest non-stop run. 143619 calls at Totnes on a cold frosty morning on the: 2E87 06:00 Penzance to Exeter St Davids. The story of how 143619 ended up on this service was an interesting one. Thursday 21st October 2010.
Following the failure of 57603 on the previous nights up sleeper at Penzance, a HST was used on the sleepers. 57604 was attached to the rear of the down sleeper at Paddington to hitch a ride to Penzance. At 14:01, 57604 towing failed 57603 with the sleepers head north through Totnes on the: 5Z70 11:00 Longrock to Old Oak Common. Thursday 28th October 2010.
Due to engineering work to the west of Plymouth, the Cornish based RHTT couldn't treat the Devon Banks, so the Bristol based RHTT was used. 66067 Top & Tailed with 66077 head north on the: 3S58 08:00 Barton Hill to Barton Hill via Plymouth.
